The Hoyas game against Bullis was rescheduled to this Monday in what will be the first of four games for Prep this week. The Hoyas were on a drought after having both games the previous week cancelled due to inclement weather, and the players were eager to take to the ice once again. The Hoyas came out strong, taking home the first, second and third goals, the first and third scored by James Flannery and the second by Alex Chaconas. Bullis managed the find the back of the net late into the first, but the Hoyas defender Alex Demers was able to score in the final minutes to put the Hoyas at a 4-1 lead going into the second. Prep dominated the second-period outshooting Bullis 22-5 and scoring 4 times to give the Hoyas a sizeable lead that would carry them to the end of the game, with the final score totaling at 8-3. The Hoyas next game will be one Wednesday the 6th where they will face off against St. Johns.
The Hoyas played at home this Friday when taking on their IAC opponents at St. Albans. It was also senior night for Prep, and the Hoyas thanked the seniors who have contributed to the team. Prep started out behind but quickly tied up the score with James Flannery scoring a nice goal to put the Hoyas on the board. The first period ended tied, but with Prep having nearly twice as many goals. The Hoyas went into the second period hopeful, but a questionable call that led to 5 minutes of man down play hurt the Hoyas and gave St. Albans the opportunity to put another goal on the board. The Hoyas and St. Albans went into the third neck and neck, with the score being tied 3-3 at one point, but St. Albans managed to pull away with a fourth goal and a fifth empty net. The Hoyas look to next week when they take on Spalding on Wednesday.

In a game with a total of 65 shots on goal, five power plays and numerous quality scoring chances, it was the two goalies who were the top performers in the 0-0 tie between Georgetown Prep and Bishop O’Connell at Cabin John Arena on Friday night. O’Connell’s Matthew McCarey stopped all 45 shots he faced while Elon Granston was a perfect 20 for 20 for Georgetown Prep.

The Hoyas were backed by a mass of students when they took the ice this Wednesday to play Landon. The Hoyas were looking for a win against their IAC opponents after taking a loss to Gonzaga the previous week. Both teams came out strong, but it was the Hoyas that took home the first goal of the game scored by James Flannery. The Hoyas were mostly on the defensive when the first period ended, with the shot count coming out heavily in favor of Landon. In the second period, however, The Hoyas dominated the ice despite Landon scoring early in the period. Goals from Patrick Fitzgerald in the eleventh minute and breakaway goal from Alex Chaconas in the thirteenth put the Hoyas at a 3 – 1 lead going into the third period, as well as closing the shot gap significantly. Prep continued to control the game in the third quarter, and despite significant time playing a man down, denied Landon a second Goal. Prep Goalie Elon Granston can be largely commended, saving 32 out of 33 shot put on net. The Hoyas hope to continue their success going into their next game against Bishop O’Connell, a team that they have already defeated in their season opener.
Georgetown Prep’s two-goal first period was enough as the Little Hoyas defeated Mt. St. Joseph’s, 3-1, at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel on Monday night.
James Flannery’s first of two goals got Prep on the board 8:33 into the game after taking a pass from Patrick Fitzgerald and scoring from close range. Alex Demers picked up the secondary assist on the play. Less than three minutes later, Alex Chaconas scored unassisted in what turned out to be the game-winner, after he forced a turnover and chipped the puck past Mt. St. Joseph’s goalkeeper Connor Churko.
Ryan Trott and Dusty Ziegler assisted on Matt Adams’ goal at 10:24 of the second, which brought the Gaels to within one, but the home team could not muster the equalizer.
Georgetown Prep peppered Churko with 38 shots on goal, while Prep goaltender Elon Granston made 20 saves on 21 shots.
